Coming Up...

I've really gotten excited about this coming up month basically....I pick up my best friend from LAX on Tuesday and then Thursday night we are off to New York City! I will be walking down the streets and trying not to look completely like a tourist- camera clutched in my hand and looking around wildly. When I was little, it was my "favorite city" that I would always love in movies. I would tell people when I graduated high school I wanted to be living in new york, in a loft above a bakery, and go to NYU. That dream kind of crumbled when I got my roots in pretty deep in Ventura. I'm beginning to love and mark in my memory as significant events in my life, are simply when I get to leave my home town.
That being said- it really makes me sad thinking I might not always live in sunny lovely, california. There was nothing more than shocking when I did my first out-of-california trip (at the age of 15, mind you) when I realized not everyone got to experience how nice the weather is and beautiful the towns. Traveling tends to make me feel like I've lived in a little shoe box my whole life, where little by little, peep holes appear.
I think I sound completely lame. But I don't care. I'm excited!

A journey of self discovery. Seems like every other under-30 year olds are going crazy with it too. Finding a distinct style, personality, way of life or spiritual belief- we are all searching for something. However, we butt heads so much in the process, breaking each-other's hearts, hurting others and ruining friendships. We are hypocrites, who so easily see the problems in others yet have a hard time seeing our own. To being to see the true paths in life, one of the first things we need to get over is our own ego. That "inner warrior" within us that is so persistent in being the right one, or the better one. Because the world that revolves around us is the world we create, or as Shakespeare said, "thinking makes it so." However, us in our ignorance, ignore the possibility of the world at large- millions and millions of, who are too in their own web of lies, beliefs and some truths.

And if society, as a large, is so illusional, why follow any goal that is not from your heart and only your heart? Why conform to the masses when you can "step out of the box" and be the one who they all admire? Those in the spotlight- the ones we set our eyes on, did something different, chose their own path in life to travel. Not saying you need to be something or somebody else, but just- the person who you want to be.

Which will ultimately lead to the ideas of happiness. I am always running towards it, and at times only being able to just grasp it for a second. A promising study concludes that happiness comes from within and not from external forces, and not from trying to either make the universe fit into your life, or your life somehow conforming to the universe's.

The unfortunate thing is, the way the Western society portrays "growing up" (i.e going to college, doing this by-the-book, and that-by-the-book) almost holds us back in certain ways. For trying to be different so much, and be our own people, we all live lives of shocking similarities and share similar fears.

I guess all I can say is I am generally trying my best. But I feel pulled in so many different directions that it's hard to put enough time and effort into just one, to make it count. Or will all this working over time add up and be enough?

Today I realized I am in a rat race that I don't particularly want to be in.

Imagine Bob, a 17 year old male who was raised to focus on grades so he can grow up and get a good job. He believes that if he gets good grades, he will finally be happy. Bob works hard everyday, spends little time on personal activities and works hard to maintain a 4.0 GPA. He graduates high school with few friends but praise from teachers- he is named class valedictorian, and get's accepted to his favorite college. This is where Bob thinks he will be happy- but he's not. Bob is very stressed out. Bob's inner ego tells him to keep going- he will find happiness, but only if he works harder. So Bob works hard throughout college, to get a "good job" that will make him happy. He rarely dates, or spends time with friends. He passes up opportunities to go to parties because he wants to stay home and study.

Eventually Bob graduates college, which does not reduce his stress. He get's a job interning at a local law firm. 20 years pass, in which Bob works tirelessly to become a firm partner. Bob would be happy then. Over the 20 years, Bob meets a woman who was looking for a husband. They are not particularly in love. Yet the marry, have two children, a big house, dog, and a cat.

Bob finally get's the partnership he had been wanting. Working hard for almost his entire life. Bob is 50 years old and utterly exhausted. And Bob Is Not Happy. He is far from happy. Deep down, Bob wonders what happened to his life. He wonder's why he is not happy. Bob goes through a midlife crisis, in which he quits his job, starts riding motorcycles, and decides he wants to fix cars the rest of his life.

Let's be frank here- I don't want to be like Bob. Is this the American....or Western Illusion? There are still signs of villages of people in the Amazon still un-connected with the modern world. To them, life is about hunting, society and rank among your peers. It's so similar, yet different.

What if I wanted to hunt something different then? Instead of hunting money, fame, power....what if I wanted to hunt life? Where would I find it? I'm sick and tired of trying to compare myself to others, feel I need to stand up to some sort of illusionary standard. I am deeply blessed in the life I have been given yet I do not feel it's the life I should be living. Dear lord. I need to get away.

Book O' The Week

Today I finished one of the great Neil Gaiman's books entitled, Anansi Boys. This was published in 2005 and finally made it's way into my hands in Summer 2008. I have been a huge fan of Gaiman's and this book definetly didn't dissapoint. I read it in about three days, most of which laying out in my backyard, being constantly aware of the spiders in the grass and around my yard. Gaiman described in one part of the story about an Army of spiders of all shapes and sizes. Neverbefore then did I realize how much I really do hate spiders. But it was a great book. Basically the ultimate folk-legend adult tale book.

Now I'm working on Gaiman's short stories entitled Fragile Things.

So this weekend is coming to an end and it really sucked. It pretty much rained the whole time or was on the verge or raining, which is just as bad. Today it started off all raining and dreary and ended with the sun breaking out and looking pretty. Too bad I already got cut off from working tonight and making moolah. But whatever :)

It seems like EVERYONE has a cold right now. And of course I woke up this morning and my nose was all runny and my throat sore. I'm pounding Gatorade and Vitamin Water like no tomarrow. I just need some home cooked chicken noodle soup and I'll be fine.

Woohoo! It may sound corny, but it's refreshing to see some of the young hollywood bimbo's actually break away and look like they are REALLY doing better. Nicole Ritchie shows off her buglging belly while swimming with her babydaddy Joel Madden. Ritchie celebrated her 26th birthday in Hawaii this past weekend. Not bad :)

So the "secret witness" has been revealed as Britney's one time bodyguard Big Baretto. Hmm...

He stated that he 'feared for Britney's mental health from the moment he started working for her- but he feared he would not be believed if he alerted child protection officers".

It's sad to say that bodyguards see it all, but usually can only talk if pressed in court. Sucks for Britney, but sucks more if what he says is true.

Barretto started that it was the children that made him come forward.

"I couldn't stand by and let the kids stay around her any longer. She has mental health problems, and they are not helped by her taking drugs and alcohol. Her children need attention, and Britney doesn't appear to be willing to give them any at the moment. She can't cope with being a mother, as she has such a low boredom threshold."

Well, none of this is nothing to anyone's suprise. Its amazing how just from photographs someone can tell if they are a good mother. Britney is just proving everyones point about her all along.

Barretto goes deeper explaining how Spears allegedly overdosed on many occasions. Saying that once Spears overdosed and "The next day me and the oter guard talked about her overdose, he replied: 'Yeah, thank God we made it." We never spoke about it again."

"In the end, whenever she'd ask us to fix her a drink, we'd trick her by filling the cups with coke and adding a dash of bourbon to the top to make it seem stronger than it actually was."

Well...this all goes to show that stardom at a young age can only ruin people. Do I think Britney will pull out of this and become a better person? I dunno man...Hollywood either makes you or breaks you. Either she's gunna be the next Anna Nicole Smith or Courtney Love. In the perfect would she would stop going out so damn much and sit down and fix her life. She has it so easy. Everyones willing to forgive her. But she lets everyone down and looks like a mess. Homegirl makes like 700,000 a month. And she can't even afford to dress nice and have some decent extensions in.

Whatever. I'm just waiting for something real to happen.

I am soooo utterly and completely dissapointed in Britney. I was hoping more than anyone that this performance would bring her back. It would give her the leverage she needed to become the Britney Spears we all used to love. She used to sparkle, have an amazing body, be a great dancer and now she's just...washed up.

I did hear rumors of Britney hearing Sarah Silverman's before she went onstage and threatened to not do it because of her bashing her children, but MTV told Britney that Sarah wouldn't say anything...and she did.

I'm not sure if I believe it. Either way, the few Britney fans left out there are probably on the same boat I am...away from caring about her and supporting her any longer. She insulted everyone who cared.

I honestly don't know how some people do it all the time, but this working doubles stuff is killing me. It's one thing to work a double when you're at a place that is simply folding clothes or on a computer. But when you're running around like crazy for 12-13 hours and dealing with rude customers, food thats taking forever and a hungry stomach, you'll feel my pain. I seriously can't just go for seven hours before eating. And ending up not being hungry after 13 cuz I put off eating for so long. The redbulls only leave me with the shakes and I just don't like it haha.
I guess it's good though...I got my check from school and now I'll have alll my credit cards paid off and my line of credit. Just have some small school loans left over. Woohoo!
Ok, bye for now. Gotta get ready for another double today :(

So I had today, errr, yesterday (it's past 12) and tomarrow to myself. To do whateevvveerrr I wanted. I've managed to do about four loads of laundry and it still doesn't look like I've even dented the pile of clothes piled up on my couch. I swear, I had clothes that I baught, wore once and then forgot to throw them in the wash and haven't seen them since. I'm bad like that. When I can't find anything to wear or everythings dirty, I feel an urge to go clothes shopping. Not a good habbit at all.

Today, yesterday, whatever, I finally got around to calling my dentist guy to set up an appointment to get my wisdom teeth out. turns out that I only have until the 4th of September to go in or else I'd have to find somewhere else completely. Of coarse! The lady on the phone was a complete bitch to me. Said the only day avaliable was next wednesday. Not only is it the first week of school, but yours truly has tickets to go to a David Beckham soccer game, and I REFUSE to spend the day all swollen and uncomfortable and not see the beautiful Beckham, even if he is just sitting and watching.

So I did what any normal person would do and I found another dentist, went in and got all new x-rays and stuff. Haha. Plus, while I was there, they were having a special on Zoom bleaching and I decided to get it done. Not bad for a Wednesday afternoon.

I have to say, I'm pretty damn excited for school to start. I need something other than work in my life. Blah.

A Day Off To Get Things Done...

Today was a much needed day off. I've accomplished a lot that I've been putting off for the past month or so because I've been working like crazy. I'm really not looking forward to this weekend, I have to pull doubles Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No Bueno :(
Today when I was at Ross' some lady nocked over a glass vase because they stack up that crap and are lousy about having safety regulations. She cut her finger a little bit, but as they were talking to an employee about cleaning it up and whatnot, a little girl walked right across the glass and before I could say anything she cut up one of her feet pretty bad. Just seeing that made me 100% sure I could never be a doctor or nurse because I felt a wave of heat come over me as I saw her foot literally gush blood. I get so squeamish, even at my own blood.

Then I went down to Ding Masters in hopes of getting the stupid long dent off te side of my new car out. I seriously am still so bitter that that old guy sideswiped me and got away with it. I'll never let it down. I was even sadder when the guy told me that I couldn't get the dent out well with him, and would have to go to a body shop that would probably cost about $1,200. Blah!

Nothing really major is going on in the news today....

I really can't believe that school starts for me in exactly one week. Worst part? My school is a grand fuck and the website to view class schedules, courses, ect is DOWN. I'd love to be prepared for my courses and such...but I signed up for them in May and really don't remember what I'm taking! I tried calling the Tech Center and of coarse the lines were busy.

This weekend was really exhausting. Saturday I worked from 8am until 11:30 PM. WTF? Yeah, working two waitressing jobs is just not cool. At the end of the day, I felt like my feet we're gunna completely fall off. I really hope this stupid habit changes soon and I only work one job a day...haha.

Kevin's lawyers have been working around the clock to hit Britney on all the weakest points. People Magazine reports:

"Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, confirms that Promises Treatment Center was served with a subpoena Saturday morning, saying, 'An executive administrator from Promises rehab facility was served with a subpoena.'

This is the fourth subpoena doled out by the Federline team in the singer's increasingly high-profile custody battle. Earlier in the week, Spears's former assistant Shannon Funk, bodyguard Daimon Shippen and pal Alli Sims were all served with legal papers. "

Wooo...looks like a LOT of fun. I'm sure Britters is thrilled.

Ryan Seacrest To Host Emmy's

Apparently hosting the Emmy's isn't quite a big deal anymore.

"On the heels of landing the job to host the Super Bowl pre-game show, the hardest working man in show business has also been tapped to emcee the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards, it was announced Monday.

"Ryan Seacrest appeals to a broad audience, including the highly desirable young adult demographic, so he should serve as a magnet for attracting a diverse array of viewers to our Emmy telecast," said Dick Askin, chairman and chief executive officer of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Seacrest also works for FOX, which in addition to airing the Seacrest-hosted American Idol will be broadcasting both the Super Bowl in February and the Sept. 16 Emmys. "

So the rumors are that Criss Angel and Britney are going to team up for the VMA's.

This may be her big chance to prove to everyone that she is NOT done.

"After eating at Cravings, Britney, Alli and their crew met up with Criss Angel at the Bel-Air hotel. Britney and Criss left briefly alone together, but they returned to the hotel where they spent the rest of the night."

Anndddd, Criss adds: "It’s amazing what people think. We’re not together. Her manager is my manager, and I’m helping with one of her shows. I’m helping with her appearance on MTV."

Verrryyyy interesting. Her performances always topped the old VMA's and since she stopped I haven't even bothered to watch them. Knowing she's performing, I'll definetly tune in.

Books O' The Week

Coraline by Neil Gaiman

I found I really liked this book. After seeing previews for Stardust and a recommendation from PITNB, I went and baught this book. I ended up reading it in about a couple hours. Was a pretty fast read! He reminds me very much of Tim Burton, very gothic and creepy. I'm a sucker for a good fantasy novel and this was definetly worth it to me.

Stardust by Neil Gaiman

Ok so I was on a Gaiman craze. This book took me a while to really get into. The first couple of chapters were sorta boring. I was very suprised by a pretty graphic sex scene in the third chapter though! By the end of the book I was completely sucked in. Gaiman created a story that reminded me very much of The Neverending Story but without all the many creatures and sub-stories. I thought it was a pretty good book. I was dissapointed though when I went to go see the movie in theatres. But whatever.

A different angle on a blog

First off- what the HELL is that guy doing? In this blog I want to be able to look at celebs as human beings (unless they are named Paris...so in this case she's not) and not dive right into "just" the gossip.

Ok, for example. Britney Spears' latest photo shoot. Everyone bagged on her for being HUMAN and leaving the shoot, and when good pictures come out of it-nobody can sit back and say, "Well, she looks gorgeous!" I admire sites like BreatheHeavy.Com who really step it up and defend celebrities like Britney who can't really defend themselves in these blog-wars.

So here's to you Britney, in all your glory.
